UK Racal VRQ301 VHF FM Radio

This is the UK Racal VRQ301 VHF Radio.

The Radio developed by Racal from the ClansmanRT-351 radio set. The complete station is of a lightweight, compact and rugged design which meet all relevant military specifications.

The system's receiver/ Transmitter is the RT351 Clansman VHF radio set which has been adopted for use in mobile stations be adding a bolt-on front panel to provide direct frequency read out and a remote extension mechanism to enable the remote control switch to be operated from the front of the set. The radio can therefore be replaced by a standard RT351 from a vhf man pack station if required.

The power supply of the VRQ301 is 24V DC.

The antenna tuning unit has a silent tune facility controlled by the operator. In this mode, while the atu circuits are adjusting themselves to the optimum matching and tuning position, no RF radiation occurs. The atu also introduces a high degree of selectivity into the antenna circuit, a vitally important feature where two station are operated in close proximity. Fully automatic, the atu can be mounted close to the antenna base without regard to accessibility.
