The User Manual is designed to be opened on a supporting window to the main application, such that a 'side by side' presentation of the manual is available. The information presented on the contents list will take the user directly into the selected section of the document. The sections are provided such that each one supports a specific function of the CPS. The User Manual provides specific information on all windows, menus, fields, error messages, information / prompt messages and support environment. The User Manual is provided in Electronic form, the Print option may be used to produce a hard copy of the document. Note : Help is not available either from the User Manual or the Current Field selection when a window of the type 'Modal' is being displayed. A 'Modal' window does not allow any selections to be made from the CPS other than from the open window. This is to ensure that no functions can be actioned at the same time, an example of this is the File 'Save' window, which should not be disturbed when saving a file to disk. A list of the 'Modal' windows is given below : File Open File Save As Read Radio Write Radio Print Configure However Help is available for all fields on the windows listed above from the Help Index selection. Data Entry and Key Usage ===================== The CPS system is configured to run as any other Windows based utility. Reference is made in the User Manual to several types of 'Box', the description of the function provided by each type of 'Box' is given below : 'Dialog box'; this is a box used to request information from the user and provide information to the user. An example of this is the 'File Open' dialog box which would ask for information on the specific filename of the file that the user wants to open. Windows also use dialog boxes to display additional information and warnings, or to explain why a requested task could not be accomplished. Most dialog boxes contain options, each one asking for a different kind of information. After the requested information is supplied a command button is actioned to carry out the command. 'Combo box' ; this is a box which is provided on a window to display a list of information. An example of this is the 'List Files of Type' combo box on the 'File Open' window where the different types of file are provided for direct selection. 'Check box' ; this is a box which offers a list of options which can be switched on and off. When an option is selected the box contains an X, otherwise the box is empty. Names of the options that are not available are grayed out and therefore not selectable. 'Spin box' ; this is a box which has an Up and Down arrow to the right hand side. Selecting the Up arrow will cause the value in the box to increment by the Step size allocated to the item as shown on the Status Bar. Selecting the Down arrow will cause the value in the box to decrement by the Step size allocated to the item as shown on the Status Bar. The Mouse can be used on any toolbar or window to select the item or field to be edited. The entry of data is then supported by the keyboard. Any data that is entered into a Window is only validated and written to the Radio Configuration Data held in the memory of the PC after the 'OK' button is actioned. The Radio Configuration Data which is held in the PC memory is only written to a Radio if the Write Radio menu selection is actioned. Where a Mouse is not available a 'Hot' key selection is provided, such that any window or function can be selected, the 'Tab' key is then used to move around the Window to the required field to be edited. Start Up Window ============= The Start Up Window is displayed within the Customer Programmer main window, after the CPS software has be executed from the CPS Icon held under the Windows operating system. The Window provides the following information about the CPS system : - Kit Number : The identity code of the CPS package kit. This is used in ordering and identifying the CPS package. - Version :The software version number and the date at which it was first issued. Serial Number :The unique serial number of the CPS software. When the 'OK' button is actioned the window will be closed and the Customer Programmer main window can now be used to control the CPS system. FILECFILE The selection of windows provided under the File Menu selection are to support the user in all aspects of file management; e.g : save and open. Further selections available provide the user with the ability to both read and write to the radio, clone the radio, print selected files and exit the application.  File Open8File Open Selection of this item displays the File Open dialog box. The drive and the directory path to search for files must be selected. The names of all files that are of the type listed in the 'List Files Of Type' combo box, in the drive and directory path specified will be displayed. The 'List Files Of Type' combo box will default to CPS files. The name of the file that was last accessed will be displayed, by default, in the File Name box. Selecting a filename from the 'Files' list box: the filename will be displayed in the 'File Name' box. the description of that file will be read and displayed in the Description box. Selecting the OK button reads the currently selected file into memory. If the operation of reading the file will overwrite unsaved data currently held in memory then a confirmation prompt message [ Unsaved data held in memory will be lost.] will be displayed. On successfully reading the file the data contained within in it will be validated. If validation is successful the dialog box will be closed. If the validation is unsuccessful an error message [ contains invalid data] will be displayed. The data currently held in memory will be lost. Selecting the Cancel button will close the File Open dialog box without reading a file.  File SavefFile Save Selection of this item will update archive file that was last opened or last saved.  File Save AsFile Save As Selection of this item will display the 'File Save As' dialog box. On entering this window, the 'File Name' box will default to the name of the file that was last accessed through either the File Open or File Save commands. If a file has not been accessed then this field will be blank. The drive and the directory path to search for files must be selected. The names of all files that are of the type listed in 'List Files Of Type' box, in the drive and directory path specified will be displayed in the 'Files' list box. The 'List Files Of Type' box and the 'Save' radio buttons will default to CPS files. The currently selected filename will be displayed in the 'File Name' box. Selecting the OK button will save the appropriate area of the Radio Configuration Data onto disk and close the dialog box. If a file already exists with the same filename then a confirmation prompt message [ Specified file exists, overwrite ?] will be displayed. If unable to save the file an error message [Unable to save ] will be displayed. Selecting the Cancel button will close the File Save dialog box without saving a file.  Read RadionRead Radio Selection of this item will display the Read Radio dialog box. When reading from the Radio Configuration Data, all of the Radio Configuration Data will be read. If the operation of reading the data from a radio will overwrite unsaved data held in memory then a confirmation prompt message [Unsaved data will be lost. Do you want to continue ?] will be displayed, allowing the user to cancel the operation. On selection of the Read button the Radio Transfer dialog box will be displayed. The progress bar will be updated to indicate the progress of the Radio Configuration Data access.  Write RadioWrite Radio Selection of this item will display the Radio Transfer dialog box and write the Radio Configuration Data to the radio. Prior to writing the data to the radio: the checksums for all the areas to be written to the radio will be updated. . the regional ID held in the radio will be checked. If not the right one an error message [The radio is not supported.] will be displayed. . the protocol option held in the radio will be checked against that held in memory, if not the same an error message [The model byte of the radio is not the same as the model byte in memory.] will be displayed. the Model Number held in the radio will be checked against that held in memory, if not the same an error message [The model number of the radio is not the same as the model number in memory.] will be displayed. . the major codeplug version held in the radio will be checked against that held in memory, if not the same an error message [The codeplug version of the radio is not the same as in memory.] will be displayed. . the serial number held in the radio will be checked against that held in memory, if not the same an error message [The serial number of the radio is not the same as in memory.] will be displayed. The progress bar will be updated to indicate the progress of the radio update. On completion of the radio update this dialog box will be closed and another one opened which will indicate either the success or failure of the operation. A radio and RIB must be properly connected to the computer and power turned on before you attempt the PROGRAM function. The time required to PROGRAM a codeplug will depend directly on your computer type and the size of the codeplug you are programming. The status of the PROGRAM operation is displayed on the screen. Only radios with the SAME model number, SAME protocol option and SAME codeplug version may be cloned. This screen summarizes the personality information which can be changed from trunking system screen and trunking personality screen. Trunked radios may not be cloned unless System Keys have been loaded for each trunking system ID. The clone procedure is listed as below: 1. Use the READ RADIO function to read the radio codeplug to be cloned, i.e. the 'Source' codeplug. An archive file may also be used as the 'Source' codeplug via FILE OPEN function. 2. If required, enter the Individual ID's for the new radio. Trunking System keys (or FTR Key) are required for cloning the Trunking System data. 3. If required, go to the SDF merge screen, to merge SDF Trunking System data. 4. Connect the 'Target' radio to the computer, and press the READ SERIAL NUMBER button to read out the 'Target' radio's serial number. This number must be different from that in 'Source' codeplug, or the cloning progress will fail. 5. Connect the 'Target' radio to the computer, and press the PROGRAM button to program the 'Source' codeplug into the 'Target' radio. The radio must be connected to the PC using the appropriate cables and RIB box. ******************** WARNING ******************** Do NOT turn off the radio or disconnect it from the computer while attempting to PROGRAM the codeplug. Interrupting the programming process WILL destroy the codeplug contents and completely DISABLE the radio! ***************************************************** 6. Continuing the operation will cause the CPS to validate the code plug, if this fails a warning screen will be displayed informing of the incompatibility between the CPS and code plug, otherwise the information is written into the radio's code plug. The time required to PROGRAM a codeplug will depend directly on your computer type and the size of the codeplug you are programming. The status of the PROGRAM operation is displayed on the screen. E{ HELP_PRINT| HELP_EXIT}HELP_EDIT_MENU~HELP_COMMON_MENUHELP_COMMON_RADIO_WIDEHELP_ALERT_TONS_ENABLEHELP_MIN_ALERT_TONE_VOLHELP_ALERT_TONE_VOL_OFFHELP_POWERUP_ALERT_ENABLE SDF Merge}SDF Merge SDF is supported for 800MHz and 900MHz models. This function is used to update the codeplug information with trunking information from the SDF (Standard Download File). The SDF merge will automatically search for a corresponding SDF file for the radio data currently loaded. Trunking systems and personalities will be added to the codeplug. If the maximum number of systems/personalities have been reached, a warning prompt will appear and further additions skipped. The actual procedure is listed as below: SDF Merge Procedure: 1. Obtain an SDF file with the trunking information and place it in the SDF directory as configured in Options/Configure/SDF path. 2. Use the FILE_OPEN/RADIO_READ functions to either Read the radio codeplug or Open the archive file for the radio to be updated. 3. Access the SDF MERGE option to update the codeplug information. PrintPrint Selection of this item will display the Print dialog box. The 'Section to Print' combo box will allow the user to select one of the following sections of data to be printed: Configuration Data and Manual. It will be possible for the user to type in a comment to be printed in the 'Header / Comment' field of the printout. The data printed out will be in a form similar to that displayed on the screen. Whilst printing the dialog box shown 'Printing Please Wait' will be displayed. It is also possible to print to a file by selecting the 'Print to File' checkbox. It will then be possible to enter a name, in the 'File Name' field, for the file. Selecting the Cancel button will close the Print dialog box without printing a file. ExittExit Selection of this item will display a prompt dialog box, requesting if the user wants to exit the CPS. EDIT EDIT The Edit Menu selections provide the user with the ability to modify, update and view the Radio Configuration data. The windows are grouped into specific functional areas so as to give the best relationship between the data entry requirements and the radio functionality CommonCommon The Common Menu selections provide the user with the ability to modify, update and view the common features of the radio, such as button configuration, menu configuration, display options, etc.  Common Radio WideCommon Radio Wide This screen allows the user to set up various options that affect radio wide operation. The options on this screen should be correctly edited and verified before proceeding to edit personality data. $ Alert Tones EnableVAlert Tones Enable If not selecting this options, i.e., no tick in the check box, indicates that no alert tones will be made during radio operation, including Busy, Talk Prohibit, signalling sidetones, etc. Note : Disabling alert tones will disable Low Battery Tx Chirp and Standby Chirp as well The factory default is Enabled. ' Min Alert Tone VolumeaMin Alert Tone Volume This field is used to select the Minimum Alert Tone Volume level the radio will use. If the volume pot setting is above the specified Minimum Alert Tone Volume then the actual volume setting will be used. Otherwise the Minimum Alert Tone Volume will be used. The factory default is 128. The valid range is {0-255}. / Alert Tone Volume Offset (dB)YAlert Tone Volume Offset (dB) This field is used to select the Alert Tone Volume Offset the radio will use. The Alert Tone Volume Offset is the value to raise or lower the volume of an alert tone in reference to the current user selected volume. The offset can range from -24dB to +24dB with step of 1.5dB. The default is -12dB. , Power Up Alert Tone EnablePower Up Alert Tone Enable This field is used to select the Power-Up Self Test Alert Tone. If enabled, an alert tone beep will sound each time the radio is turned on and the self- test is completed. The factory default is Enabled.  HELP_TX_CHIRPHELP_STANDBY_CHIRP HELP_TX_LED HELP_OUR_INDHELP_INT_MIC_GAIN HELP_EXT_MIC_GAIN!HELP_ROT_SW_SCAN_PRG"HELP_SEL_KP_MUTE#HELP_BLK_PEND_CAPC$HELP_HOME_MODE_ Tx ChirpTx Chirp This field is used to enable the Transmitter Low Battery Alert Tone. The radio will sound a beep tone immediately after the PTT switch is released when a low battery condition is detected during transmit. The factory default is Enabled. % Standby Chirp (sec)Standby Chirp (sec) This field is used to select how often the Low Battery Alert Tone sounds. Valid entries are from Disabled up to a maximum of 930 seconds in increments of 30 seconds. Valid direct entries are also allowed. Selecting Disabled will prevent the radio from sounding alarms when the radio is idle. However, the Low Battery Alert Tone will still sound after the end of each transmission if the Low Battery Tx Alert Chirp is Enabled. The factory default is 60 seconds.  LEDLED This field is used to enable a visual indication of low battery during transmit. If enabled, the red Tx LED will flash when a low battery condition is detected and the radio is transmitting. The factory default is Enabled. 4 Radio Wide Out of Range IndicationRadio Wide Out of Range Indication This field is used to select the type of Out Of Range indication desired. This field determines how the radio will indicate an Out Of Range condition on a trunked system. When the radio can no longer communicate with the base, the radio will give an out of range alert tone, display an out of range message, or both. This feature can be disabled by setting the value to No Indication (Disabled). The factory default is No Indication (Disabled). / Internal Microphone Gain (dB)Internal Microphone Gain (dB) This field sets the internal microphone gain that the radio will use when the portable internal mic is in use. The offset can range from 1.5dB to 46.5dB with step of 1.5dB. The default is 25.5dB for all radios except 800M and 900M radios whose default is 27.0dB. This field is supported only by radios containing the following codeplug version or higher. Band CP Version ========================== VHF R01.04 UHF B1 R01.05 UHF B2 R01.04 330MHz R01.07 800MHz R01.07 900MHz R01.03 ========================== The radio firmware version should be R01.03.26 or higher for this feature to be supported. Band CP Version ========================== VHF R01.04 UHF B1 R01.05 UHF B2 R01.04 330MHz R01.07 800MHz R01.07 900MHz R01.03 ========================== The radio firmware version should be R01.03.26 or higher for this feature to be supported. + Rotary Switch (Scan Prgm)ROTARY SWITCH (SCAN PRGM) This field is used to define the operation of the Channel Rotary during scan programming when BOTH Zone and Channel selection are from the radio menu (i.e. the rotary is not used). The rotary can be used to step through either CHANNELS or ZONES during scan programming. This feature is ONLY applicable when both the zone and channel selections are from the menu. The factory default is Channel. ( Selectable Keypad MuteSelectable Keypad Mute This field is used to enable Selectable Keypad Muting. When enabled, the user may mute the keypad chirps from the radio menu. A MUTE selection must also be selected on the Menu Configuration Screen. The factory default is Enabled. % Block Pending CA/PC@Block Pending CA/PC This field is used to enable Blocking of Pending Call Alerts or Private Calls. When enabled, the radio will ignore all successive Call Alerts (or Private Calls) after receiving a Call Alert (or Private Call) with a different ID than the pending call. HELP_CON% Home Mode SelectionHome Mode Selection With Home Mode Selection enabled, the Home Button can be used to instantly access a specific mode. A long press of the Home key will set the radio's currently selected zone/channel to be the Home Mode. A short press, however, causes the radio to switch from the currently selected mode to the Home Mode. The default Home Mode is Zone 1, Channel 1. The factory default is Disabled. % CPS Password Enable2CPS Password Enable If this option is not selected (no tick in the check box) it indicates that the CPS will not be performing any password check prior to the opening of the codeplug either from radio read or archive file. If it is selected (tick in the check box), then the CPS will prompt a password entry window to the user after the completion of the radio read or at the beginning of the archive file opening process. The user will then be required to enter the correct password before the codeplug is displayed. The factory default is Disabled CPS Password CPS Password This option will only be active if the CPS PASSWORD ENABLE is selected (tick in the box). The users are allowed to enter a maximum 5 alphanumeric characters as their CPS Password. This field will be saved in the codeplug.  Silent AlarmlSilent Alarm This field is used to enable the Emergency Silent Alarm feature. When enabled, the radio will operate silently when transmitting an emergency signal. No audible or visual indication of the transmission will occur. This feature is not compatible with Emergency Receive. To enable Silent Alarm make sure Emergency Receive which is in Radio Wide Display Options is disabled. Emergency operation must be enabled on the Trunking Personality Emergency Options Screen. In addition, the Emergency button must be configured from the Radio Wide Button Screen. The factory default is Disabled. A Radio Wide Emergency Silent Alarm Unmute OptionRadio Wide Emergency Silent Alarm Unmute Option This feature is an optional ADDITION to the Emergency Silent Alarm feature. Enabling this feature will cause the radio to UNMUTE on the emergency talkgroup (for trunking) or frequency (for conventional) for voice traffic when the radio is in SILENT ALARM EMERGENCY mode. The Unmute Option will allow the dispatcher to provide feedback to the person initiating the emergency state via code words, without drawing undesirable attention. The factory default is Disabled. % Channel Delay (sec)Channel Delay (sec) This field is used to select the Emergency Channel Delay. The radio must be on a channel for this delay time before it can transmit an emergency signal. For Emergency operation, sometimes this delay time is desired to prevent the radio from sending an emergency signal on an undesired channel, which might occur while the user is changing channels and pressing the emergency button. The factory default is 2 seconds. Valid selection are 0-7 seconds. . Short Keypress Duration (ms)2Short Keypress Duration (ms) This field is used to change the timing duration for a short keypad key press. An example of a Short Keypress would be pressing a digit on the keypad when entering a Private Call ID. Valid entries are 50-750 ms in 50 ms increments. The factory default is 50ms. , Long Kepress Duration (ms)Long Kepress Duration (ms) LONG KEY PRESS DEFINITION: A long key press involves pressing and holding a key for a period of time to enable a radio function or feature. The user must press and hold the key down for the time PROGRAMMED VIA CPS for this field. SETTING LONG KEY PRESS: Use this field to change the duration for a Long Keypad key press. The range is from 750 to 3750 ms in 250 ms increments. The factory default is 750 ms. , Time Out Timer Table (sec)Time Out Timer Table (sec) This table is used to select the four Time Out Timer (TOT) values available to each personality. Each conventional channel and trunking personality may reference one of these four values. TOT values from 15 to 465 seconds may be selected in 15 seconds increments. An Infinite value is also available. If the radio is transmitting and the TOT time expires, the radio is automatically dekeyed and a continuous alert tone will be generated for as long as the PTT button is pressed. To continue transmitting, the PTT button must be released and the radio rekeyed. The factory default values are Infinite, 30, 60, and 120 seconds.  ButtonsButtons ***************************** WARNING ***************************** Do NOT duplicate a function on multiple controls, i.e. a button and a menu. This may cause the radio to malfunction, and can cause operator confusion. ************************************************************************* This screen allows you to modify the function performed by the radio control buttons, which include the top orange button, and the three side buttons. The 16 position rotary control on the top of the radio is also programmed like a button. The buttons may be defined as seperate functions for conventional and trunking operation, but commonality is strongly urged for shared features such as Light or Phone. The rotary must always be the same for conventional and trunking. Rptr Acc Button 2 - Used to manually send a repeater-access request code. Scan - Enables / Disables Scan. [1] Volume Set Tone - Generates a tone for the duration of the press. Nuisance Delete - Removes the current active channel from the list. Dynamic Priority - Increases the priority of the current active channel. Select Call - Select Selective Call ID. [2] Page - Select Call Alert ID. [2] Phone -Enables the DTMF Encoder. [1] Emergency - Activates an Emergency transmission. [2] (Not Available on All Models) Call Response - Used to respond to a private call, or call alert, or phone call. Call Response - Used to respond to a private call, or call alert, or phone call. This function should be used for 'Response Only' radios, or in conjunction with the Phone / Private Call functions assigned to the Menu. [2] Reprogram Request - Enables the Reprogram Request feature which transmits a trunking reprogram request. One Touch Button x - Activates the One Touch feature programmed for the selected button. [3] Full Spec Scan - The Full Spectrum Scan button is used with SmartZone to initiate/continue a Full Spectrum CC Scan. When pressed, the radio will scan the spectrum for a control channel with a system ID that matches the system that the radio is currently using. If the radio finds a control channel, it will stop. If the button is pressed again, the radio will pick up where it left off in the spectrum and continue scanning. The radio automatically stops scanning if it does not locate a control channel before the Full Spectrum CC Scan Timer expires. When Dynamic Priority is enabled, last channel transmitted on will become the Second Priority Channel. When this feature is enabled, the Second Priority field is hidden. To do this, a side button has to be pre-programmed to Dynamic Priority. This is done to eliminate the time used in checking for proper PL and thus minimizing audio holes. The factory default is disabled. / Monitor Hold Time (sec);Monitor Hold Time (sec) This field is used to select the Monitor Hold Time. Valid entries are 0 to 255 seconds in 1 second increments. Scan Monitor hold time is the time the radio remains on a conventional channel during scan after the monitor button is released. The factory default is 6 seconds. # Voting Scan(Voting Scan Conventional Voting Scan is used to select the best repeater to use in a multi-frequency simulcast conventional system. Enabling this field will cause all conventional personalities using a conventional scan list with Auto Scan enabled to perform conventional voting scan. Phone ListsPhone Lists This screen allows you to edit the telephone interconnect configuration for your radio, including stored telephone numbers and alias. These parameters are radio wide, and apply to both conventional and trunking. Function Key Descriptions: ADD button: Add a new phone number. DELETE button: Delete an existing number. DIALING OPTIONS: Change DTMF timing parameters. PHONE ACCESS/DEACCESS: This page allows the user to define the Access/Deaccess code pairs used for the DTMF Phone option. These codes are selected in the Auto Access Code on the Conventional Personality Phone Options screen. Up to 19 code pairs may be defined. The Access code is used to keep unauthorized users from using the inter- connect system on the repeater. The Deaccess code is used to terminate the phone call and minimize wasted air time. Changing the ISW Window Adjust may actually degrade trunking system performance! ( Auto Dial Holdoff (ms)Auto Dial Holdoff (ms) This field defines the amount of time the radio will wait after gaining access to a phone channel before a pre-queued phone number will be dialed. It ensures that the fixed end is ready for dialing to commence. Normally the user waits for dial tone, but in this case, the radio is dialing and cannot detect dial tone. Initial value of this field is 2525 (ms). Minimum is zero and maximum is 6375 (ms) in the increments of 25 (ms). + Failsoft Inactivity (sec)Failsoft Inactivity (sec) This field pertains to failsoft operation. If a radio remains inactive while operating in failsoft for this specified time (in seconds), the radio will momentarily leave failsoft and attempt to find a control channel. This field defines the minimum signal strength (RSSI value) for a radio to determine that it is in range of a valid voice or control channel. If a site enters Voice on Control, the radio will remain locked onto that site. One of the possible conditions that would cause the radio to roam to another site (or possibly enter the Out of Range State), is when the radio determines there is about 5 seconds of low signal strength (RSSI below this threshold) on the last active CC. Valid entries are from 0 to 255. The factory default is 74. + VOC Pended Emer Time (ms)VOC Pended Emer Time (ms) This field defines the maximum time that the radio will delay before sending in a certain subset of ISWs while the radio is in VOC mode. Note, most ISWs are not permitted to be sent in while the radio is in VOC mode (the exceptions being Emergency and Phone Reject requests). Valid entries are from 500ms to 6000ms in 25ms increments. The factory default is 500ms. * VOC Activation Time (ms)+VOC Activation Time (ms) This field defines the maximum time that the radio will delay before sending in ISW requests upon receiving a system status OSW indicating the site is exiting VOC mode. Function Key Descriptions: ADD Button - This button is used to add another Trunking System to the existing number of Trunking Systems. DELETE Button - This button is used to delete an existing Trunking System from the existing number of Trunking Systems. REVERSE Button - This button is used to navigate to the previous Trunking System while remaining in the same data field. FORWARD Button - This button is used to navigate to the next Trunking System while remaining in the same data field. FASTREVERSE Button - This button is used to navigate to the first Trunking System while remaining in the same data field. FASTFORWARD Button - This button is used to navigate to the last Trunking System while remaining in the same data field. CONTROL CHANNEL Page - This screen is used to change and view the parameters associated with the control channel. OPTIONS Page - This screen is used to change and view additional Trunking System parameters. The steps for Trunking programming are as follows: 1) Program System (This screen). 1a) Enter Control Channels (Control Chans Screen). 2) Create Personalities (Edit->Trunking->Trunk Personality) and Link to System. 2a) Enter Talkgroups (Subfleets) for each Personality (Edit->Trunking->Trunk Personality->Talkgroups screen). 3) Assign Buttons/Menus for System and Personality features (Edit->Common->Buttons and Edit->Common->Menu Items). 4) Assign the Talkgroups to the Zone/Channel map (Edit->Zone Channel). A Trunking System refers to a specific repeater site, the System ID, the individual radio ID for that System, the control channel frequencies, and the connect tone required to operate on that System. Maximum number of systems for Privacy Plus Non-keypad and Keypad are 10, 16 for Privacy Plus Roaming and Smartzone Non-keypad, 20 for Privacy Plus Roaming Keypad and Smartzone Keypad. Each System that your radio is programmed to operate on is 'linked' to one or more trunking personalities. The personality defines the features available for your radio while operating on that System. $ Trunk System IndexTrunk System Index This field is used to scroll through the available systems. The navigation buttons can be used to navigate through the available systems. ! Trunk System IDQTrunk System ID Enter the Trunking System ID in hex. This field contains the 4-digit hexadecimal number which identifies the trunked System. A system key is required to access this field. Otherwise, the SDF download procedure must be used (File->SDF Merge). This number must match the ID of the Trunking Repeater System. ! System ID AliasSystem ID Alias This field is used to enable System ID Alias feature. When enabled, the upper 8 bits of the System ID are ignored. The factory default is Disabled. # Connect Tone (Hz)Connect Tone (Hz) This field is used to select the connect tone for this system. A system key is required to access this field. Otherwise, the SDF download procedure must be used (File->SDF Merge). The valid selections are: 0 - 105.88 Hz 4 - 97.30 Hz 1 - 76.60 Hz 5 - 116.13 Hz 2 - 83.72 Hz 6 - 128.57 Hz 3 - 90.00 Hz 7 - 138.46 Hz The Connect Tone is a sub-audible tone required on the voice channel to access the trunked repeater. The function is similar to the conventional repeater access tone. This field is not applicable for SmartZone Systems.  Coverage TypeTCoverage Type This field is used to select the Coverage Type. A system key is required to access this field. Otherwise, the SDF download procedure must be used (File->SDF Merge). The choices are: WAC AMSS - Wide Area Coverage Automatic Multiple Site Select. Local AMSS - Local Automatic Multiple Site Select. SmartZone - New Motorola system for wide area roaming. Disabled - Disable wide area coverage. Up to four control channels are used for standard trunking operation and up to eight are used for WAC AMSS, regardless of the number listed on the Control Channel Screen (Edit->Trunking->Trunk Systems->Ctrl Chans). In an AMSS System multiple sites are linked together to form a large trunked System. Radios programmed for Wide Area AMSS can use the Site that they are in range of and when they move between sites the radio can switch sites without dropping any communications that are in progress. Up to eight control channels can be used for Wide Area systems. If WAC AMSS is selected and WAC AMSS Failsoft is selected on the Trunking Personality Screen (Edit->Trunking->Trunk Personality), the WAC Failsoft page on the Personality screen will be used for entering the failsoft channels. Radios programmed for Local AMSS are only allowed to use one site. This site is entered as the Site ID below this field.  OmnilinkOmnilink When an OmniLink feature is enabled, the radio will be allowed to roam from one SmartZone System within an OmniLink System to another SmartZone System within the same OmniLink System. The factory default is Disabled.  Site IDSite ID Enter the Site ID for Local AMSS operation. The range of valid ID's is 0-63. A system key is required to access this field. ' ISW Retry TimerBISW Retry Timer This field is used to select the value for this field. This field changes the interim spacing between ISW retries. ( Splinter Channel}Splinter Channel This field is used to enable Splinter Channel operation for this system (800 MHz Only). The control channels and failsoft frequencies will be shifted down 12.5 kHz, and the radio will interpret the channel numbers received over the air as splinter channels as well. Channels in the 821 band will not be affected. The factory default is Disabled. ' Status AliasingStatus Aliasing This field is used to enable Status Aliasing for this system. This option will permit you to customize the Status number and to assign an alias name to each message. Message Trunked: After the initiator dekeys the radio, the voice channel stays active (hangtime) so other members of the talkgroup can respond on the same channel. If a radio in the talkgroup transmits during another user's transmission, they will talk over the other transmission. Transmission Trunked: No hang time and no talk over. When a radio is de-keyed, the channel is immediately deallocated and reassigned. If a user tries to talk over an active channel, the radio will not key until the channel is clear. Values between 100 and 5000 ms may be selected in 100 ms increments. When Smart PTT is enabled, a quick key (double press) of the PTT switch can override the feature and cause the radio to transmit although the channel is busy. This timer determines the maximum amount of time between PTT presses, i.e. how fast the user must press the PTT switch to override. The factory default for this value is 500 ms. If Status Request is enabled, the radio responds to a remote status interrogation with the last attempted status. MDC MessageMDC Message This field indicates whether or not the Message feature is enabled. Message, when enabled, allows the user to select and transmit a specific message, from a list pre-programmed into the radio. A complete activation of the Message feature therefore includes first enabling the feature and then programming the desired list of messages to be made available to the user. Message list programming is performed by means of the Message Alias screen. The factory default is Disabled.  MDC Emergency\MDC Emergency This field indicates whether or not the Emergency feature is enabled. Alarm & Call - An emergency message is repeatedly sent to the base station until either all the allowed retries (both polite and impolite) have been sent or the radio receives an acknowledgement from the base station. Once an acknowledgement is received from the base station, the user can talk to the base station. An emergency PTT ID will be sent with the voice on each PTT press. The emergency call is canceled by a long press of the emergency button. Both types of emergency support reverting (transmitting emergency on a predetermined channel). ' MDC Hot Mic EmergencyMDC Hot Mic Emergency This feature when enabled will activate the MDC Emergency Hot Mic Operation (also known as MDC Emergency with Voice to Follow). After one impolite transmission of emergency alarm, the radio will automatically drop into Emergency Call mode and begin transmitting with the microphone unmuted for the time specified by the MDC Hot Mic Tx Period. The radio will return from carrier squelch mode to Select call packet required mode according to the specification of this field. However, the timer is re-started any/each time a carrier (or voice) is detected. The factory default is Enabled. , Remote Monitor/Radio TraceRemote Monitor/Radio Trace When the MDC Remote Monitor/Radio Trace feature is enabled, the radio will be able to decode an MDC Remote Monitor or Radio Trace command sent from the dispatch console. After decoding this command, the radio will key-up its transmitter for a time period calculated using the 'Tx Base Time' and another value embedded within the Remote Monitor/Radio Trace command. The factory default is Disabled. # Remote Radio ModeRemote Radio Mode The MDC Decode Operation allows the radio to operate in one of two possible states when it decodes an MDC Remote Monitor/Radio Trace command: Radio Trace - The radio will automatically key-up sending unmodulated carrier. Remote Monitor - The radio will automatically key-up and unmute the microphone thus sending voice on the channel. For each MDC Remote Monitor/Radio Trace command decoded by the radio, the radio will key-up and stay keyed for the time indicated by the Tx Base Time and the dispatch console value. The dispatch console value cannot be controlled by the subscriber unit. The factory default is Radio Trace.  Tx Base Time Tx Base Time Use the UP/DOWN arrow keys to select the desired MDC Tx Base Time. The value may also be entered directly. The MDC Tx Base Time is a value used to calculate the period that a radio will key-up after receiving an MDC Remote Monitor/Radio Trace command. The factory default is 10 seconds.  MDC Call ListMDC Call List This screen is used to edit Conventional MDC Call ID's and their associated names or aliases. The ID entries in this table are stored in the radio and made available to the radio user in Selective Call or Call Alert operation. For radio models capable of supporting multiple MDC Systems, the Call list defined here is made available to all MDC Systems. An MDC Call ID is either an Individual Call ID or a Group Call ID. The RSS interprets each entry which begins with the hexadecimal digit `E' as a Group ID. Call IDs beginning with a digit other than `E' are treat as Individual IDs. Also, the number of characters for the ID alias labled 'Call Text', is automatically determined according to the display capability of the radio. Each Conventional System may have a unique call list, and each list may have a maximum of 19 ID's. The call lists defined on this screen are assigned to the conventional system on the Conventional System screen. An optional name can also be assigned to each member of the zone. Each zone can also be named on radios equipped with a display. The number of characters allotted for the Zone name versus the Channel name is defined on the Radio Wide Display Options screen (Edit->Common->Display Options). Zones and channels can be added and deleted via the buttons at the right of the screen. Maximum number of modes for Non-keypad Models are 16, 90 for Privacy Plus Keypad, 160 for Privacy Plus Roaming Keypad, 250 for Smartzone Keypad. Maximum number of zones is 16 for Privacy Plus Non-keypad and Keypad, Privacy Plus Roaming Non-keypad and Smartzone Non-keypad, 50 for both Privacy Plus Roaming Keypad and Smartzone Keypad. Zone selection may be via the navigation buttons.  Zone NumberZone Number This field is used to select the desired zone. The number may be changed using navigation button. Zones/Channels may be added or deleted with the buttons at the right of the screen.  Zone NamejZone Name Each Zone may be assigned an alphanumeric name. The number of characters allotted for the Zone name versus the Channel name is defined on the Radio Wide Display Options screen (Edit->Common->Display Options). The zone name will appear to the left of the channel name on the radio display. For single zone radios, the zone name is optional. Announcement Group, Fleetwide must also be enabled on the Trunking Personality System menu to function properly. OPTIONSVOPTIONS The only selection available under the Options Menu is Configuration.  Configure]Configure This menu item will not be selectable and will be grayed out if there are any child windows open. Selection of this item will display the Configuration window. The user will be able to select whether the PC serial communications port 1, 2, 3 or 4 is used when communicating with the radio. The user will be able to select the language to be used. On selecting the OK button: the configuration will be saved to a disk file, the CPS will configure to the new set-up, the dialog box will be closed. On selecting the Cancel button the window will be closed. WINDOWWINDOW Selections available under the Window Menu are provided to improve the display of the information and to give the user the ability to directly access multiple windows, which have been opened. CascadeaCascade Selection of this item shall cascade all of the windows that are currently open.  Window 1..2..3Window 1..2..3 The remainder of this menu will be dynamic, and show the title(s), if any, of the window(s) that are currently open. On selection of a title, the appropriate window will be made active and brought to the foreground display.
