We have ideas for a February speaker – one on emergency communications, another on go-boxes. We also could do the go-box topic as roundtable of members, plus web resources including videos, PowerPoints. Dana Custer – We now have 109 members. Carlos Acosta, KN6PAQ, our newest member, introduced himself. A new ham with a General license, he is an engineer, interested in circuits and building things. He joined the club because he is looking for people who can provide advice on ham radio. He builds control and power electronics for cameras in the entertainment industry, factory automation, and develops related software. He plans to build his own amplifier, but sees antennas as a new and interesting topic. He has a very large battery system for RV, etc., and for emergency use at home. He designed it. 400 AH at 24 volts, plus 4 solar panels. (Mike suggested Carlos could be a future speaker, talking about his battery system). Randy Slaten – It’s time to start planning meeting for Field Day, hopefully at Pierce College again. We need to invite people to participate in FD Committee. We can begin with Winter Field Day – in a park, daytime only, or operating from home. We may plan for June FD with two tracks, live and virtual, depending on the COVID situation in June, or we can just explain that you can operate from home if you choose. Fred Zimmerman – He gave spreadsheet to Dana with membership information.
