St. Lucie Powerplant Drill 2002

At 9:00 AM local time (2/20/2002) Martin County
ARES/RACES Emergency Net was activated to support the St. Lucie powerplant drill. The net
was secured at 2:00 PM when the EOC declared that the exercise was terminated. ARES/RACES participants (14): N4BG, WE9D, KG4OCV, KG4AJC, KE4UEI, N3PYQ, KF4MTW, N4IGS, KG4JCR, KF4MVC, KF4DKY, W4SLC, N4PLY, and KF4CDD. Traffic: 4 messages Bands/Modes: VHF/FM, UHF/FM, UHF Packet Locations: EOC, Red Cross headquarters, and in-the-field to make on-the-spot observations when the warning sirens were sounded. Skywarn was also active. Publicity: The Martin County Government Access Channel on Adelphia Cablevision interviewed the EC. That interview will appear locally on Channel 20. The EC participated in the round-table discussion/critique with the Martin County Emergency Services Division. All of the Martin County ARES/RACES participants were in uniform (newly acquired hats and shirts with club logos) and made an excellent team appearance. |
