This is the homebrew two meter amplifier I used to make my first EME QSO. What a thrill!! It uses two 4CX250B tubes in push pull and puts out about 400 watts. This is the W1Sl design found in the February 1971 issue of QST. It is also found in the VHF/VHF DX Handbook. The U shaped anode tank circuit is cut from brass and bent to shape. A copper flapper seen to the left of the tubes forms the plate tuning capacitor. The output coupling loop is just visible under the tank circuit. This amp is very easy to build and even easier to make operational.
This is the grid tuning circuit.
