My first QSO on September 11, 2010 with my XYL WA4AKB to test her Radio for the first time.  I wanted to make sure that I could use it.

My second QSO was with my Father-in-law (W4YDY) a few minutes later.  He was surprised and did not recognize my voice over the radio.  He sent me the only two QSL cards that I have. (QSL-1, QSL-2A, QSL-2B)

Why WA4JCK for a Vanity Call Sign?

My first introduction to Amateur Radio was as a Junior in High School (New Bern Senior High School).  The Electronics Instructor (Jerry McMullen) was a Ham and managed to get funding to set up a Radio and Tower at the School.  WA4JCK was the Call Sign for that School Club Station.  I checked on the Call Sign when studying for my license and saw that the Call Sign was no longer in use (Mr. McMullen had been gone for a while).  So I decided to get it assigned to me.
