Dr. No (1962) -- The first, and likely the best, of the Bond movies. The Manchurian Candidate (1962) -- Care to play a little solitaire? Dr. Strangelove (1964) -- We think this is a comedy... Goldfinger (1965) -- The only supervillian who ever considered the bottom line. The Good, the Bad & the Ugly (1966) -- A strangely great spaghetti western. The Wild Bunch (1969) -- The way westerns should be made... Star Wars (now retitled Episode #4) (1977) -- The first 37 seconds are the zenith. Raiders of the Lost Ark (1981) -- Powerful casting of Nazis vs God. Body Heat (1981) -- The best film noir since the '50's. Ghostbusters (1984) -- "They hate that!" Predator (1987) -- Don't talk, just shoot. Groundhog Day (1993) -- Imaginative way to use every take. The Usual Suspects (1995) -- Writing still counts. ...and you may infer from this assortment that I'm not enamored with remakes & sequels. Bad news for Disney, Lucas & Spielberg. :-)
