ZL3TK  Enigma

Be advised that the set up keys provided on this website are strongly recommended for all your on air Enigma traffic.  Firstly, they can be easily referenced with a short URL appended to your message text (see the examples of typical Enigmagrams), and secondly, authorities may access them to quickly decrypt Enigma traffic if need be.  Plain text will be appended to Enigmagrams handled by ZL3TK, with varying time delays after transmission.

Even though nothing has been encoded, failure to provide a pointer to the set up keys for your encrypted traffic may be seen as a violation of the terms of the General User Radio Licence under which amateur radio stations operate.

When using Enigma there is no context to enable guessing of 'words', which simply means

The requirement for Accuracy supersedes any perceived need for Speed

Dirk Rijmenant's easy-to-use, fully functional, Windows-based EnigmaSim is the only simulator referred to on this website and is highly recommended to ensure compatibility between all stations wishing use Enigma on the air.  Other simpler simulators do not necessarily follow the 1918 design by Enigma's inventor Arthur Scherbius, or provide the Doenitz M4 upgrade, therefore compatibility cannot be guaranteed.

Enigma traffic to and from ZL3TK, and indeed between any other stations using this historic German mechanical encryption system, may be decrypted using the initial machine settings shown on this website, or by following the instructions available at https://www.enigmaworldcodegroup.com.   Unfortunately, the once vibrant EWCG website may have been abandoned after its brilliant creator, Bruce Culp N7CLH, handed over the reigns due to his declining health.  The site could conceivably disappear at any time so has been backed up by this author.

As at September 2021, the EnigmaSim Virtual Machine and all details are still available for download from https://www.enigmaworldcodegroup.com/download-enigma-simulator
