BARA Monthly Club Meeting
Wednesday, June 18, 2025   7:00 pm - 8:30 pm

Kopernik Observatory, 698 Underwood Rd, Vestal, NY

Our upcoming club meeting will feature a hands-on and highly informative presentation by Frank, W2FJH, as he introduces members to the evolving world of digital voice communications. Frank will explain the fundamentals of digital voice technology and demonstrate live transmissions, giving attendees a real-time look at how this mode improves audio quality and reliability on the air. His presentation is designed to benefit both newcomers and seasoned operators by providing practical insights into a system that is increasingly shaping everyday ham radio operations.

In addition to covering digital voice, Frank will showcase Seven3.net, an exciting online platform developed specifically for amateur radio enthusiasts. This site offers personalized user dashboards, community discussion spaces, and a comprehensive event calendar. Local clubs such as ARAST and BARA are featured within dedicated sections, and other areas focus on DMR simplex, HF special events, hotspot usage, and net activities like the STNY Digital Voice Net, which meets every Sunday at 7 PM. The platform also supports SKYWARN, Southern Tier Fusion Network operations, a buy/sell/trade forum, and even an onboarding area for new users.

This promises to be a highly engaging and informative session, and we anticipate a strong turnout. BARA meetings are open to all; if you have an interest in amateur radio, you are welcome to join us. Attendees can expect a thoughtful discussion that blends technical detail with field-tested advice. It is a great opportunity to connect with fellow ham radio enthusiasts, exchange knowledge, and learn from shared experiences, whether you are an old-timer or just getting started.
