HOW TO INSTALL
AGW PACKET ENGINE
x PACKET 1200 (under Windows) with
Audio Card

The last agw packet engine version
allow you to use any audio card as a packet modem (1200-9600 baud); the following tests
are made under windows 95 (for Win98 it's very similar);
- Software needed:
WINSOCK Ver.2 for Win95 (WS2SETUP.EXE);
AGWPE (AGWPE.ZIP); (AGW
PACKET ENGINE 's Home Page on http://www.raag.org/sv2agw/
);
DRIVER (DRIVERS.ZIP, SYSTEM.ZIP);
- At first install WINSOCK Ver.2 (only for Windows
95) (you can download it from SV2AGW's web site or from Microsoft or other); just click on
the icon;
- Somebody says to copy the file BWCC32.DLL under
c:\windows \system but on my PC I have only one copy of this file and it's in the same
directory of agwpe;
- Install AGWPE (ver. 2000.50 o later) (unzip also
driver.zip and system.zip), in a directory called (i.e.) AGW;
- In AGWPE.INI, under the voice TCPIPINTERCONNECT,
make sure there is ENABLE=1 (or select WINSOCK Interface right-clicking with the mouse on
AGWPE icon);
- Remember that agw packet engine is fully
functional; only if you use dial up adapter and tcpip (AGWDIAL.ZIP) you can use it only
for 45 minutes, than need to register: but you can make packet without using tcpip and
dial-up!
When you load agw packet engine, right-click on the icon and select DIAL UP NETWORK; than
select THANK'S NO TCPIP.
- Run AGWPE.EXE and right-click on the icon;
select PROPERTIES > NEW PORT and in the window TNC SETUP configure in this way:
SERIAL PORT : 1 o 2.. where there is the PTT switch (if you want to transmit) (you can use
also LPT port);
BAUDRATE : 1200;
TNC TYPE: SOUND CARD (if you use Sound Blaster or similari);
KISS : KISS SIMPLE;
PORT : SINGOL;
TNC RADIO PORT: it's just a name;
In the window TNC COMAND:
if you allow the software setting itself, just select BAUDRATE=1200;
If it's the first time you are running AGWPE make sure there is only one radio port (or
remember to select the right one); now EXIT and re-load AGWPE.
- If when reload agwpe there's a message such
"the audio card is used by an other program", then reset your PC; usually that
happens when you close AGWPE but the agwpe icon is still on the right-bottow (or you are
really using your audio card with an other program, such as a wave editor or similar).
- Make a shielded cable
(as short as possible) to connect Audio Out in your RTX to LINE IN in your Audio Card;
usually audio card uses a stereo jack while RTX uses a mono one (see transmission and
reception page);
Now you can run a terminal software such as:
NOTE:
- On my Pc, everytime I close agwpe using audio
card, system give an error (in MSACM.DRV); if you reload agwpe, the program will answer
that the audio card is used by an other program and the radio port will remain in IDLE
state (and the reception will be not possible until you reset the PC).
Don't deactive the audio card from control panel (as for flexnet) because agwpe will
answer with: "BAD SOUNDCARD DEVICE" .
