"The start of main stream Georgia 900mhz operation"

For us it all started back in early 2008

2 meters was just about useless with jammers and other non interesting conversations

so we wanted to have a somewhat private but still ham radio usable band.

At that time there were very few repeaters and not much interest so it folded for us in mid 2009

On the next try a few guys had radio's so we took interest in the 900mhz band again Jan 2010

We tested the second repeater and had ok results but all LOS at low elevation

KC4JD put us in touch with Dean W4BCS and we had a site 50 miles from here but at 3500ft

From there it was history being made with 900mhz coverage that is better than most 2 meter repeaters

Over the past few years we have 900mhz operators almost 100 miles away that use the repeater frequently

In the past 2 years the repeater has been hit twice with lightning and rebuilt

A new Arcom RC-210 controller is in place that links to UHF and keeps traffic balanced very well

Its been a tuff road and is not for everyone because of the major extra effort to get a station working and on the air

The 900mhz stations that can get over the LOS and difficulty love it. The ones that do not have the LOS/E effect and go back to 2 meters
