Following the previous notes regarding antenna balance, baluns and general thoughts, I thought it would be worth posting a couple of pictures where I
have ended up for the HF antenna. Below are two pictures looking up to
the TV antenna which is mounted on a 10ft mast at the apex of the roof.
Below the tv antenna, I have a small stub mast which has a pulley
attached. In this set-up I am using the Cobra UltraLite Senior centre fed with 450ohm
ladder line, just below the pulley at a height of approx 40 feet. You
can see the narrow space that I have to use, and can see the
neighbour's analouge tv antenna, the sky dish is mine but not used. I ended up using a 135ft single wire doublet in the same configuration. I still have the Cobra but it remains unused.
The next two pictures show the antenna elements leading to to the front
and back of the house. There is a smaller distance for me to use at the
front - and both elements are eventually folded back on themselves to
make them fit. The element lengths are 140ft in total, so as you can
see I have quite a lot of metal up high in the sky, abielt 'made to
fit'. I have been having excellent reports using this configuration.
Lastly, below is a drawn picture of the antenna giving an idea of how I
have made it fit in the garden. The elements are coloured red. It is
centre-fed using 450ohm ladder line, and I have a pulley arrangement to
enable me raising / tensioning / lowering it as needed.
