International Museums Weekend

Registration email form

The simple (and free) procedure for registering to take part in the event.

Please Register:

Registration gives both you and the stations you make contact with, several advantages. You become eligible for a 'Museums Award' and those you contact will be able to count your museum towards their list of contacts for the  'Contacts Award'. Other stations taking part will also know exactly where both you and your museum are located from your callsign. The proceeds from both Awards will go to a registered charity.

The Lat/Long items below are to enable UI-view equipped stations to be able to mark you on their map. The data can be found using a GPS, an OS map, or failing this your best guess would be better than nothing at all. The preferred format, is explained below, but any Lat/Long format again is better than none.

Latitude - input your museum station's latitude. The format is dd.mm.nn<NS>. "dd" is two digits for degrees. "mm" is two digits for minutes. "nn" is two digits for decimal minutes. NOTE - decimal minutes, not seconds. "<NS" is either "N" for North or "S for South. Example - 52.58.23N

Longitude - input your museum station's longitude. The format is ddd.mm.nn<EW>. "ddd" is three digits for degrees. "mm" is two digits for minutes. "nn" is two digits for decimal minutes. NOTE - decimal minutes, not seconds. "<EW>" is either "E" for East or "W" for West. Example - 000.02.77W

Some museums may be running with more than one callsign, perhaps for VHF and HF. Will these stations when registering please fill in the form once, for each of your special callsigns. Your entries will then be placed in the 'Museums List' as 5017, and 5017a etc...

This registration form is now in operation for the IMW event in June 2002.

A reminder (for those in the UK):-

You may wish to apply for special event GB-prefix callsigns, for your museum stations. The RSGB advise that you should allow at least 28 days notice for these. It does show promise of being a very widespread event, so it might be advisable to apply for for your chosen callsign as quickly as you possibly can to both avoid the rush, and get a better choice. It is possible to obtain instant clearance and reservation of your  GB callsign, with a quick phone call to the RSGB HQ. You will of course then need to follow this up with the necessary form (click the link below).

Write to: RSGB, Lambda House, Cranborne Road, Potters Bar, Hertfordshire, EN6 3JE.

Phone on: +44 (0)870 904 7373 or +44 (0)1707 659015
