SignalinkUSB cable for military radios

Are you a commo guy in the military, or a civilian with a surplus military radio? Are you wondering how you can quickly interface a Signalink USB to that military radio for amateur digital operation?
Look no more, the answer is easy, explanation and diagram below.

If you need to connect a Signalink USB to a PRC-150, PRC-104, PRC-117, PRC-119, etc, you'll need to get a U-229/UG1connector to solder up your cable. (It's that connector that hooks up your handset or other device to the six pin connector on the radio). If your commo repair shop won't give you a spare, you can order them from Newark, Mouser, and of course Amazon and eBay.

Connecting U-229 to Singalink USB with a CAT5 cable, just install the jumpers straight across in the Sigalink, cut one end off a CAT5 cable, and solder as shown below

U-229, (you solder this)   ---------------------------Signalink USB (RJ45 connector on CAT5)
PIN        Description                                             Pin    Description
A            GND: ground            GREEN                  6        GND
B            SPK: speaker,    WHITE/ORANGE        1        SPK
C            PTT: push to talk WHITE/GREEN         3        PTT
D            MIC: sound in           ORANGE               2        MIC

Now you are ready to take your laptop, Signalink USB, cable and use a PRC-150 for digital modes on HF.
