The box containing the IC22a version of VK6RAP
was machined aluminium for tight RF screening.
VK6RAP started as a Pye F60 commercial radio followed by a modified VHF Group project tansceiver, (1970's). 

This repeater was constructed from 
a cut up Icom IC22a. 

The receiver is contained in the left compartment, the control circuitry in the centre compartment, and the transmitter in the right hand compartment. 

This style of repeater was mark 3 (1980's). 

Today (1990's)VK6RAP on 146.700 MHz
is a modified Philips FM880.
