VK6RAW Katanning 147.000 -
This Repeater was originally located near Wagin but was moved
further South when the equipment owners shifted location.

The repeater is an amateur commercial unit the Echo IV made by
Dynamic Communications.

Good coverage of the Albany Highway is provided by this repeater.

Also on site is a BBS along with digital links to the Packet Network.

The voice repeater has been linked to VK6RMS at Mt. Saddleback.

The photo on the right was taken looking through the door of the building.
The equipment on the left is amateur.

The computer is VK6RAW BBS,
with the voice repeater next to it in blue.

The blue cavity filters underneath are for the voice repeater and are amateur built.
The larger silver cavities on the right belong
to a commercial installation.

The site manager is Gary VK6GS who lives nearby in Katanning.

Shown in the photo is his brother Dennis VK6LD, who lives in Perth but visits the site from time to time.
Gary took the photo.

The area is largly farming with few local amateurs.

However once the voice repeater is linked back to Perth on a permanent basis increased activity will occur.

This voice repeater also carries the
VK6 WIA News each Sunday.

This beam is a Packet digital link between VK6RAW and the Manjimup BBS VK6FN.

The large white area is a farm dam.
