August 1997:

A site visit to increase the solar power capacity, along with other measures to reduce the
power requirements on site.

The amateur hut is the one on the left.

The hut on the right is commercial and has
on its roof all the solar panels.

Ours are the 3 different size ones on the left.

The roof of our shed is not suitable for solar panels
because in the afternoon the tower's shadow
falls across the roof.

This was not thought of at the time, as the site was powered by a low voltage cable from the
farm house, as mentioned on the previous page.

This digital photo is the combination of 3 photos,
joined together to give the wide vertical perspective.

Our solar panels on the left.

A mixture, from the top,
a 1.5A, 2A (installed on this visit) and 3.5A at the bottom.

The total capacity 7 Amperes.

The inside of the hut as of August 97.

New batteries had just been installed.

Also added on this visit was a time clock, to the right of center on the distribution board, to only turn the WIA News link receiver on when required each Sunday morning and evening.

This clock saves 20 AH per week.
