My name is MIRCEA (Mir) POPEL and I was born on March 21, 1952, in Darabani, the most northern city of Romania.
School studies: college "Prince Dragos" and millitary college "Stefan the Great" of Campulung.
University studies: Faculty of Law and Public Administration Bucuresti - Law Specialization.
Professional studies: electronic and radio communications. Military training: retired officer.
I worked at IPEG-Suceava where I started, installed and ran the radio communications network for mechanical department. Now I am retired. I live in city Campulung Moldovenesc (qth locator - KN27sm), in northern Romania, Suceava county (South Bucovina).

As a little boy I was interested in radio electronics . The first radio with galena l built at 13 years. First licence of radioamateur I obtained on March 30, 1978, as radio amateur receiver (S.W.L.), with indicative YO8-8316/SV. On June 14, 1979, I create at IPEG-Suceava a sportive section of radio amateur and one club for receiver amateurs (YO8-545/SV) that after become YO8KZA .

On November 19, 1983, I organized at Campulung an examination session for radio amateur licenses. I passed the test for the third class radio operator. At that time was in progress the re-formation MTTc - Radiocommunication Department. The ham-radio callsigns weren`t distributed from Central Departament of MTTc, instead they were freed from Territorial Zone of MTTc (Iasi, Timisoara, Cluj and Bucuresti) .

In 1985 I obtained licence of emission the third class and indicative YO8RAA. In day of February 15, 1985, MTTc _ DRTv IASI frees first licence of amateur wireless-operator from history this institution. I receive the indicative YO8RAA with licence nr. I/00001-85A / 02.15.1985 .

At the beginning of year 1987 I create Amateur Radio Club - YO8KZA, inside of sportive associations "A.S.Armata-Explorari" at IPEG-Suceava. I obtained the first category of sportive classification (title: sportive class 1). In november 20, 1987, I give the examination and obtain the licence of emission the second class for all bands . After 2000 I obtain the licence of emission the first class. In 2005 obtained condition the title of Master of Sport and 5BDXCC award.

Immediate after Revolution, (January 19, 1990) , when CNEFS, the federations(FRR) and all the country structures of sport was abolished, I contrive to record to LAW COURT of district Campulung, the first sportive democratic organisation from Romania. This is : RADIO AMATEURS LEAGUE of BUCOVINA - YO8KZA (LRB-YO8KZA), which hosted the 2007 YO Simpo.

I am the founder member of "Matinal Club" of Cluj-Napoca ; "Owl Club of ROMANIA"; "Bucovina Cup" ; "CIRPP" of Slanic-Moldova; Radio Amateur Club YO8KOR #002 and YO8KZA #001 of city Campulung ; founder member and president of associations RADIO AMATEURS LEAGUE of BUCOVINA (LRB); member Old Timer's Club Romania (OTCR #49), YODX Club #390. Also member of EPC-Club #3416, 30MDG Club #636, DMC-Club #1129, NDG-Club #1599, FH-Club #2089, WSC #274, OBC-Club #116 and others international clubs.
