The IC-905 is a truly groundbreaking radio from Icom. For the first time you can activate the microwave bands without having to build a station with external transverters. The IC-905 makes it easy. 2m, 70cm, 1.2 GHz, 2.4 GHz, and 5.6 GHz is standard, plus 10 GHz with the optional CX-10G transverter. As well as covering the whole bands, not just a single frequency like some transverters, you get the analog voice modes plus D-Star and amateur TV video.

Is this the way to go? How does it work? What about the Es'Hail 2 satellite? I cover the pros and cons of buying the IC-905. Is it better or cheaper than the transverter option?
