in 1995, being
a greenhorn in Amateur Radio, and having a
very active engineering mind, I noticed there
were no good linked repeaters to cover
Southern West Virginia.
However, the methodology most linking was done
was not adiquite enough as well the sites
mostly depended on the AC grid for power.
So, I started of creating an interest in
listing of repeaters through the area, and to
which covered what. A lot of non-coverages
showed up!
That really got me started in my engineering
for such.
Chatting with many repeater SYSOPs, I learned
a lot! However, I sensed that things can be
better.
So, I really started putting the plans
together.
|
From 1996 to
date the plan was created, evaluated and
re-done many times!
Now it is 2018 and over 44,000 hours of
engineering, researching equipment and methods
of linking, I setteled on a base system
So, I already have the beginnings of a
repeater system at my residence.
For linking it was settled to use 5 Gcs.. HS
Digital, using Ubiquiti's systems. While the
repeaters will be Analog, DMR and P-25 systems
there will be a remote base or two as well
ARPS!
The "Back Bone" will be using VOiP method for
voice, there also will be, telemetry for
monitoring the health of each repeater,
monitoring weather stations, video from each
site and keyboard to keyboard very high speed
packett.
The plans are to setup five sites, so I can
stay in touch with some buddies, and supply a
repeater stack in Williamson, where it is
needed by the four wheeling Amateur Radio
operators enjoying themselves!
Originally, the plan was very extensive, with
seven sites, but this plan is very scaled back
to three sites.
As of February 2019, I scaled way back from
the original plan. Mainly due to I am the only
one of this interests it seems there is an
enormous amount of apahty here.. No one else
is remotely interested in such an adiquite
communication system. The schools refuses to
acknowledge anything about Amateur Radio as
well the local libraries tossed 99% of
anything to do with Amateur Radio and
technology..
Below are a short list of the three sites. As
well to the left "Menu Bar" and below, you
will see five sets of numbers.
The first six digits are the SAME codes for the
State and County where the repeaters are
located. The dash and three numbers are
sequence of repeater sites if there are more
than one in a county.
The first is at my residence and with the
"-001" sequence number indicates where the
"CNC" (Command and Control) is located.
Those numbers are clickable to go to that
site's page.
I am on disability and am trying to do this
since 1995 on my own. Help in any form will be
appreciated.

At this time there are
seven locations planned/operational.
Mpuse over the Site ID Numbers
to be able to select that site!
