"I would imagine that if you could understand
morse code, a tap dancer would drive you crazy!"

[A really long] Did you know? And intro to this page.

Did you know, that the last census preformed by the ARRL on the 23 of January 2023 registered over 768,069 actively licensed Hams still in operation this year?
We are not a hobby of the "old and dusty" as many people think (often more than you realize, my own dad believed that up until just recently and I have been a proud ham for over a year now)  we are in fact still here and still in full force, I am a member of the YACHT youth radio group, it is over 480 members strong and is probably passing that number up as I write this! us youth still play strong too! don't let anyone discourage you from the hobby with comments like "didn't that die in the 80's?" and "but what's the use?" or "what do you do, talk to a bunch of old guys?"
We are still relevant, we make innovations, changes and contributions to the worlds driving radio technologies almost daily with involvement in projects like HamSCIHAARP up in Alaska (hey, that me!), and the technological advancements in Ti3C2Tx the miracle metal with uses in medical, in radio, in battery's and so so much more!  Not to mention our contributions to the disaster relief systems of the world, weather forecasting and other major services, And almost all of the electronic and digital world we live in stems from those sources greatly! A friend once jokingly said "Us Hams, We make the world turn!" and he was of course kidding but jokes are only funny if there is a little bit of truth in them twisted as it me be, the world may not crash and burn if we vanished entirely but the absence would most defiantly be felt.
now I will bend his words his words to fit what I want to say my self if you will permit me,
US HAMS, WE'RE NOT DEAD AND WE'RE NOT OLD DUSTY EXCENTRICS CLINGING TO OUR OLD TECH! not yet and not for many years to come!

I hope you find this page helpful and you stick with it! I want to see you on the air! till then 73! -KL5IS, The Alaska Kid.

Are you youth? Don't miss this!

RemoteHamRadio, is a website that is something like a WebSDR if you know what one of those is but with the ability to use transmit on it! It is an amazing remote transmit service available to us hams that don't have a ton of cash. now it is quite expensive at around $999 USD a year plus air time fees however before you start accusing me of crossing my self already there is a catch, if your youth it's free! Yea, I just said that and I will say it one more time so you can prove you did not miss read it, if your youth it's free!
the sign up page for youth is a little hard to find so here is a direct link for ya ;)

EchoLink, The free VOIP software for hams!

EchoLink, is a free VOIP (Voice Over Internet Protocol) software suite for hams, it includes direct VOIP connections between users, ties to different reflector systems nodes and repeaters, and many different VOIP talk groups called "conferences" it is located at https://www.echolink.org and has apps for Windows, Android and IOS as well as an unofficial client (Qtel) for Linux!
Like the RHR youth program is can be quite hard to get signed up but in this case it is more of a matter of the website and app seeming to have not been updated in years, however it is well worth the work and if you shoot me an email I will be glad to give you a hand!
