The beginning of my DMR use.

After wondering where all the vhf and traffic was gone. The silence on those bands was getting more and more during the summer the 2 years. Therefor I decided to get on the DMR-network. The choice was also helped by the fact that it was mentioned more and more by other locals hams.

I had the same idea, as with the D-Star, that it would be good to be free of the local repeaters. Not only at home but also on hollidays. And due to the fact that I'm using a mobile 3G telefone dongle for the internet access, I had to use my laptop. So a DV4MINI where chosen.

Something about software and how to install it.

It is quiet easy to choose the software. The DV4MINI has its own. It was found on www.dv4mini.de.
And some info on how to install all needed software can be found at:http://www.va2pv.com/dv4mini
the lastest software for the DV4mini can be found at:"http://www.dv4mini.de/download.html"
But the problems came during the first test runs. I needed some DLL'files. So the hunt started looking for those files.

Drivers and some updates, for windows ( I am running windows 8 and 7), That was found on the http://wirelesshold.com/manuals.aspx.

Then there was a hunt for the DLL files. The installation did not have them all. But running the software told me that some DLL's was missing. A Google hunt was started :-).
The missing DLL's in my case was:
api-ms-win-crt-stdio-l1-1-0.dll
msvcp140.dll
vcruntime140.dll

Installing the Visual C Libraries, link on "wirelesholding", first install "vcredist_x86" then "vcredist_x64". Getting an error message doing that just means that you have a 32 bit windows install, and you do not need this installed.
Here's the the 2013 version from Windows site:

As if that wasn't enough. It came up with error. In the search of that the result was always something from the gaming "division". Sitting at the breakfast table and talking with XYL. It hit me what about looking for "Directx" I found the "9" version and that did the trick. It is also known as: "dxwebsetup directx9".

It's possibel to find different software i.e. tools at "www.grapevineamateurradio.com".
Here are some very usefull helpfiles:
Manual-DV4mini_english-V1_6.pdf
Manual-DV4mini_English-V2_0-2016_07_23.pdf

The setup for a DV4MINI in the codeplug is like this:

Frequency modified to keep within the national limits.

Hints on how to travel around and finding some information.
And who is who, and whre they are opperating.

Information on the css7 numbers 4-digits, so it possibel to see where they belongs (DMR-MARC network).

And lots of other types of informations.

Here something on using VQlog as logging software for DMR-modes.

In VQlog it'spossibelto use other modes so I've made aversion for DMR.
Therefor I've made some databases for the different Talk Groups and DMR modes plus/BM.

talk groups on Brandmeister

Talk groupson DMR+

Reflektors on dmr+comming up as private

Server is the modes DMR+/Brandmeister

But to get working with modes you have to open the database called "Tablas" and the agn open the label callede tablas" here you type ",DV" into the mode-fil. Because the "digitalvoice" is to long for VQlog.

Now something on setting the DM-380 up.

I did get a useful codeplug from a fellow ham. Then I looked for software to make the chages needed formy use in thecodeplug : MD380_MD390_CodePlug_Editor_v0.0.64.0

Another possibillity is to use the software from N0GSG:
And help file:

And to upload the codeplug "MD380 radio Programming Software" versionV1.34.

That also made it possibel to make som other changes such as microphone gain.
Here is the screen comming up when pressing "CTRL+t", in the "red-boks" the values are set to "1" instead off the default "124". And on " http://ham-dmr.at/index.php/md380390-bzw-retevis-rt38-sendeleistung-verringern/" it's show how to lower the TX-power. The point are marked with a "green-boks", on that website it was lowered to 37, that should givean outpput of about 100mw.

Now something about setting the Anytone AT-578II-plus up.

From wendors site i found a link to a branmaster codeplug, it gave me an idea of what and how to programe it.

Then came something about drivers! The everlasting problems when connecting something to a pc.
anytone CPSandfirmware:

The driver software:

Now the software was on pc and installed....
Then the job of finding of the danish relays.
As it happende there was a DMR+ in the northen part off city. And a Branmaster about 22km south from qth.
Ergo no problem.

But as it happens the branmaster closed.

Just some hints on using the CPS. I use version 1.15.

The repeater was default set too "DMO/simplex", but that had to changed to "repeater". Now the peaters responded :-).

In the "red box" the alert values was set to "zero", just because i found them distracting.
U could keep them on and the change the tones for them in the other fields.
