Upcoming Local Events

The Pella Amateur Radio Club holds a net Mondays at 8:00 PM on its repeater.

Monthly club meetings are typically on the 3rd Sunday of the Month at 1:30PM.  Location is the Liberty Evangelical Free Church, located about three miles west of Pella on Iowa Highway 163 on the north side of the highway.  The next meeting is scheduled for June 22, 2024 during Field Day at The Well.

A "Ham for Breakfast" coffee time is normally held the first Saturday of each month at 8:30 AM.   Licensed or not, member or not, you are welcome!  The next 'Ham for Breakfast will be Saturday, June 1 at the Chick-Fil-A in Pella.

The Club also meets on the air weekly, on Monday evenings at 8:00 PM, using the Repeater.  All are welcome to join in, members or not. 

In addition, a group meets more informally from 7:00 AM to 8:00 AM on Saturdays, using 146.490 MHz, Simplex, for "radio fun", talking about anything relating to the hobby.

On the Air Events

A special event is schduled on Saturday, JUNE 22-23.  It is sponsored by the American Radio Relay League and is called "Field Day."   Field Day is ham radio's open house. Every June, more than 40,000 hams throughout North America set up temporary transmitting stations in public places to demonstrate ham radio's science, skill and service to our communities and our nation. It combines public service, emergency preparedness, community outreach, and technical skills all in a single event. Field Day has been an annual event since 1933, and remains the most popular event in ham radio. 
Pella Amateur Radio Club will setting and operating station in front of THE WELL located at 419 East Oakaloosa street in Pella.  Set up begins at 10 AM Saturday, the 22nd (weather permitting) and the event begins at 1:00 PM.  Come join for a moment or stay for a while.  (Your wife can enjoy some good shopping while you do ham radio.)  We intend to be there until 8:00 PM or so, depending on the weather.  This year we are also planning a second indoor location in case of inclement weather.  Subsribe to the club email list for the latest information.
