County Hunting

  • County lines for your Garmin Nuvi GPS
    DOWNLOAD FILE HERE
    INSTRUCTIONS:
The zip file if 1.26 MB.  Extract it to a flash card in your computer that works in your Garmin Nuvi GPS.  The file 'gmapsupp.img' should be in a folder 'garmin' on the flash card.   Remove the flash card from the computer and plug the card in the GPS with the GPS turned off.  When you turn the GPS on, the county lines should be there.  The unzipped file is just under 2 MB.  Any size card is big enough.
Another way is to unzip the file to a temporary folder on your computer.  Then just copy the 'garmin' folder to your card.
The card has to be in the GPS to work.  Remove the card if you want to remove the county lines. If you buy a new Nuvi, just plug your card in if it uses the same type card.  Otherwise just copy it to the new type card.
NOTE: The newer units usually use the mini-SD card instead of the standard SD.   You may need an adapter to use in your computer.
It has worked for me on a couple of different models of Nuvi GPS units. As far as I know, all county hunters that have used this file have been successful using it on the Garmin Nuvi GPS units when instructions are followed.  Not responsible if it does not work for you.
Any questions or problems, email W4YDY_email.gif (2145 bytes)

The data came from the GPSFileDepot and I finally figured out their complicated instructions and now have it in one file to put on a flash card.  If you have problems, please call or email and we will try to figure out the problem.

Training

  • Outstanding CW Trainer program FREE - Koch's method of learning Morse is a simple, direct way of building reflexive responses to individual characters. This method does not allow you to build that lookup table in your brain. To copy at full speed, you must build the reflexes in order to achieve 90 percent accuracy. And that's what you're spending your time doing, building reflexes. How long will all this take? That will depend on the individual. Koch himself, with hand-picked students, got a group to master 12 wpm code in a mere 13.5 hours.
In his menu, Click on Koch CW Trainer to download the file.
