About Me

Howdy from the great state of Texas!

My name is Stephen. I was born in Lubbock, Texas in the early 80’s, and lived in Amarillo until I graduated High School. I moved to Georgia for about 6 years, where I got into shooting, welding and hunting.

I moved back to Texas in 2008 to start studying Mechanical Engineering at the University of Texas at Arlington. I graduated Valedictorian in May of 2012 with a BS in Mechanical Engineering and a Minor in Electrical Engineering. I worked on several projects while at school including Lego Mindstorm NXT robots, a low power Morse code transceiver, the Maverick Battlebots Team, and a six legged Hexapod Robot.

I married the most beautiful woman in the world on January 2, 2010. She likes dancing, singing, playing the piano, cooking delicious meals for her husband, naps, watching TV and cuddling with the dog. She passed the test for her General class amateur radio license. Her callsign is WI5PAM.

I passed the Ham Radio technician test in April of 2010, and then passed the General and Extra Exams in March of 2011. My wife and I are members of the Kilocycle Club of Fort Worth, and former members of the Sabine Valley Amateur Radio Association. My callsign is W5SMD. I just moved into a house and haven’t set up my station yet, so most of my operation is either mobile or portable.
