(LMT-01) Routine: 03/31/2025 0915 hours To: All Members From: Deane Bouvier, Staff 50 After enforcement action by the FCC, the interference in the 220 amateur band should be resolved. The firm in Hermosa Beach developing the radar had stopped previously after being notified, but started up again, so we need to continue to be observant. There are still some unexplained carriers on the band, but those are not impeding our operations. Vigilance is required to protect our bands. Report any suspected interference incidents to Staff 50 at [email protected]. (LMT-04) Routine: 02/03/2025 0930 hours To: All Members From: Diana Feinberg, Staff 60 We thank all members who responded in last Saturday's DCS communication exercise. This was the first time Districts 3/17 tested both smartphone text messaging and email as alternatives to a "telephone tree" or radio callouts in simulating a DCS activation. Following Saturday's exercise and comments by members it appears text messaging is our best medium for quickly handling activation alerts and determining member availability. If text services aren't available in a major disaster we'll still use radio callouts on our District frequencies; our routine weekly communications will continue via email and Monday night nets. (LMT-05) (End of Messages) Priority: 01/31/2025 1645 hours To: All Districts 3 & 17 DCS Members From: Diana Feinberg, S-60 As mentioned in District weekly messages recently...DCS' Countywide quarterly radio exercise is this Saturday, February 1, during 0800-1100 hours. No travel is required and you may check out whenever you need to leave. The exercise objectives are: 1) testing our member activation and notification processes, i.e., how we let you know DCS has been activated; 2) enabling members to send/receive short messages via voice, NBEMS, or Winlink from home, City EOC, or elsewhere to the District net control point; and 3) District net control handles messages to/from the County net control point at the Sheriff's Communication Center.
