PREPAREDNESS LEVEL 3WITH SAFETY, ATTITUDE IS EVERYTHING NATIONAL OVERVIEW: CURRENT SITUATIONInitial attack activity was light, with 66 new fires reported. No new fires over 500 acres were reported and one was contained. Very high to extreme fire indices were reported in Alaska, Arizona, California, Nebraska, Nevada, South Dakota, Utah and Wyoming. INCIDENT HEADLINES• Twelve large fires (>500 acres) are burning. Eleven are wildfires in Alaska, Oregon, Texas, Utah and Washington. One Wildland Fire Use incident (WFU) is reported burning in Washington as part of the Williams Butte Complex. • To date, 298 WFUs have burned 95,794 acres. Pot Peak/SiSi Ridge Complex, 15 miles northwest of Chelan, WA, is burning in timber. Washington State Interagency Incident Management Team (Jennings/Perry) is assigned. Fire continued to smolder between lines. Fischer, four miles southeast of Leavenworth, WA, is burning in grass, brush and timber. Washington State Interagency Incident Management Team (Berndt/Andring) is assigned. Fire activity was minimal. Williams Butte Complex, 15 miles southwest of Winthrop, WA, is burning in timber. Precipitation slowed fire activity. CONTAINED - Bland Mountain #2, 10 miles north of Canyonville, OR, is 100% contained.

Taylor Highway Complex, 35 miles northwest of Tok, AK, is burning in black spruce and tundra. A Type 2 Incident Management Team (Jandt) is assigned. Central Complex surrounds the community of Central, AK, and is burning in spruce and hardwoods. Fire behavior is minimal. Glacier Creek, 31 miles southeast of Soldotna, AK, is burning in timber. Creeping, torching and smoldering were observed. Camp Creek, 82 miles southeast of Fairbanks, AK, is burning in black spruce. A Type 2 Incident Management Team (Blume) is assigned. Smoldering and isolated torching were observed. Boundary, 20 miles northeast of Fairbanks, AK, is burning in black spruce and tundra. Low intensity fire behavior was reported. Tors, 30 miles east of Fairbanks, AK, is burning in spruce and hardwoods. Torching and short runs were reported. Evansville, ½ mile southeast of Bettles, AK, is burning in black spruce. This is a previously reported fire. Difficult access and limited visibility hampered containment efforts.

Big Horn, located 15 miles northeast of Glendale, NV, is burning in grass, pinyon pine and juniper. No new information was reported. This will be the last report unless new information is received.
WEATHER OUTLOOKHigh pressure will continue to build into the western states, allowing warm and dry conditions to persist through the day. Gusty winds are expected to come to an end over portions of northern California as the high moves into place. Along the coastal Carolinas, tropical storm Gaston will provide heavy rains and wind gusts to 60 mph. In Alaska , partly cloudy conditions will prevail with humidity values remaining relatively low.
