The WIA exists for all Radio Amateurs.
DOES IT SPEAK FOR YOU ?
The Institute has fought for the privileges you now enjoy,
and the maintenance of a strong Institute is your insurance for
the future.
Amateurs now enjoy many more privileges than in former years,
none of these has resulted from the Australian
Communications Authority (ACA)
Spectrum Management Agency (SMA) or Department of Communications
(DOC) initiative
They have been obtained through negotiations by the WIA.
Some examples of gains achieved in the recent past are:

through participation at the World Administration Radio Conference 1979. |
A larger Membership would lead to a lower individual subscription.
The Institute's case on behalf of the Amateur Service is strengthened,
by a larger membership
and the authorities respect numerical strength.
The Institute would like to represent the interests of all licencees.
Last but not least, you have expertise and ideas to contribute which
are uniquely yours.
The Institute offers you the following benefits:
QSL Bureau, and Books.
Representation at National and International level.
Direct representation in ACA - WIA joint meetings.
"Amateur Radio " magazine,
with Free classified adverts.
An opportunity to express your views at monthly "net" meetings,
and of course members are made welcome at all Council
meetings.
[Meetings were cancelled due to lack of attendees,
when sufficient members promise to make it
worthwhile
they could begin again, until then there is
an
ON AIR NET.]
Virtually all Amateurs make use of some WIA facilities - whether
it's the QSL Bureau,
or listening to the Sunday News broadcasts,
or the Morse beacon.
But all the facilities count for nothing if you believe, as I do,
that despite all its shortcomings,
without the WIA and similar associations
world wide,
our hobby would cease to exist.
The pressures on our bands from commercial interests, increase daily.
There is never a time when there are NO threats to our hobby.
Without a strong organization to continually represent us, we will
lose the fight.
For me, personally, being an Institute member is just part of being
an Amateur,
I have always believed I get value for the fees I pay.
If you feel inclined to join, I'd be delighted to propose you.
I have enclosed a Membership Application
Form.
If you can afford a rig or afford to maintain your amateur station,
please allow just that little bit extra to become a member of the
Institute
(more members mean added strength),
You will have made a move for the betterment of amateur radio.
Yours sincerely, Cliff A. Bastin. VK6LZ
